What is a SUMP?
A Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) is a long-term strategic framework plan for future mobility development. In the Hanover Region, it serves as the basis for all 21 municipalities—from Hanover to Neustadt am Rübenberge. The participation and involvement of citizens* and interest groups are essential elements of this process. The central goal is a region where mobility works for everyone, regardless of where they live, their life situation, or their budget.

A SUMP (Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan) is a new central planning instrument designed to meet the diverse tasks and challenges of sustainable, strategic, and integrated transport and mobility planning in regions, cities, and municipalities today. It is characterized by the following aspects:
Genuine participation: Projects and measures are developed jointly with politicians, citizens*, and interest groups.
Needs-oriented: The mobility needs of citizens* and businesses are the focus.
Integrated and cooperative: All stakeholders work together from the beginning.

The SUMP for the Hanover Region is not created behind a desk—it is created together with you! The process combines your everyday experiences with technical expertise and innovative methods.
The phases at a glance:
August – December 2025: Mobility Needs Analysis through interactive surveys and workshops. Your voice will be heard.
January – November 2026: Various participation formats across the entire region. You can participate.
December 2026 – March 2027: Evaluation and development of the plan cases by the specialized consulting firm.
May – June 2027: Project conclusion and handover of all results, including an intelligent AI database, to the Hanover Region.

We are giving away prizes worth a total of €1,000 to all participants. Participation in the raffle is voluntary and takes place on a website technically separate from the survey, by providing the corresponding information at the end of the questionnaire within the specified participation period.
