Why your perspective is important:
"We want to develop the mobility concept for the Hanover Region starting from the citizens. It is important that we do not present finished plans, but that we ask for the needs right at the beginning and work with them."
Klaus Geschwinder, Team Leader Traffic Planning and Traffic Management, Hanover Region
"How do people see the mobility of tomorrow? How do they want to move around? What are things they might be missing in the system? We think it's great that people are being asked so that we can directly incorporate their suggestions."
Elke van Zadel, Chairwoman of the Board, ÜSTRA Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe AG
"Sustainable mobility can only succeed if we consistently think urban development and traffic planning together. In doing so, we look not only at routes into the city center but at good connections throughout the entire Hanover Region."
Thomas Vielhaber, City Planning Director, State Capital Hanover
What is a SUMP?
A Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) is a long-term strategic framework plan for future mobility development. In the Hanover Region, it serves as the basis for all 21 municipalities – from Hanover to Neustadt am Rübenberge. The participation and involvement of citizens and interest groups are essential elements of this process. The central goal is a region where mobility works for everyone, regardless of where they live, their life situation, or their budget.
